Scholarships: Opportunity Fund Award
OPPORTUNITY FUND AWARD
Helping You Take the Next Step Toward Study in the U.S.!
Opportunity grants provide support for talented international students who may need financial help to take the next steps toward studying at an accredited institution of higher learning in the United States.
These grants are available now to help cover the upfront costs of seeking higher education in the U.S., and are part of EducationUSA's broad range of assistance to international students.
We want to demonstrate that international students like you are welcome in the U.S., and increase access to U.S. institutions of higher learning for deserving students who have broad interests and ambitions but modest means. These grants make it possible for students who would be otherwise unable to afford the costly application process to take the next step toward an education in the United States.
WHAT CAN THE AWARD PAY FOR?
The Opportunity Fund (OF) can cover various costs related to the application process and the process of getting to the USA to study. It does not cover tuition costs or costs for your study and stay in the USA. The OF covers upfront costs before going to the USA to help students in the initial stages of application to American colleges and universities in the USA.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
* You are a talented student with a strong academic record.
* You have good co-curricular involvement, positions of leadership, community service, etc.
* You want to study in the USA for an Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) Degree or for a Graduate Degree (Masters or PhD) from an American College or University.
* You plan to apply or have already applied to a college or university in the USA. Remember, whatever stage you are in the process, the OF is here to help you take the next step toward an American higher education. You may apply for the OF early, before you have started the process of applying to U.S. universities (for testing fees, etc), or you may even apply after acceptance at a school in the United States to help pay for Visa fees, etc.
* You have financial need to help you take the next steps toward higher education in the USA.
* This program is only open to students who will not receive a Fulbright or other U.S. Government-sponsored grant.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE GRANT?
